OSOGBO, OSUN STATE — Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has clarified the voting strategy of his political coalition ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing that while the state will support President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid under the All Progressives Congress (APC), legislative seats will be strictly contested and voted under the Accord Party banner.
Addressing supporters and political stakeholders, Governor Adeleke dispelled rumors of a power-sharing arrangement or legislative seat allocation with the APC, urging voters to maintain a clear distinction at the ballot box.
“Let me state again that we are only going to vote for the All Progressives Congress in the presidential election only,” Governor Adeleke stated. “The National and State Assembly elections will be for the Accord Party. There should be no confusion among the voters.”
The Governor reiterated that the “rainbow coalition” comprising Accord, APC, and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) stakeholders in Osun was formed specifically to back President Tinubu’s presidential mandate. However, he emphasized that this cross-party alignment does not apply to legislative contests, where Accord Party candidates will run fully independent campaigns for seats in the Senate, House of Representatives, and Osun State House of Assembly.
Rejecting claims of any pre-election legislative seat-sharing agreement with the APC, Adeleke maintained that the electorate retains the ultimate power to decide lawmaker representation.
“Our partnership is united solely for the presidential election. When it comes to the legislative elections, all our candidates will face the electorate, who have the final say,” he added.
