BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, says his administration’s achievements over the past two years have earned him the affection of state residents, who have popularly tagged him with the moniker, “Okpe’s Baby.”
Speaking at the Government House in Benin City during a strategic meeting with political appointees ahead of the 2027 general elections, Governor Okpebholo stated that the nickname reflects public approval of his performance in office.
Addressing party stakeholders and appointees, the governor highlighted his administration’s track record on fiscal management, pointing out that Edo State has consistently met civil service payroll obligations on time without relying on bank overdrafts.
Beyond regular salary payments, Okpebholo emphasized his administration’s ongoing urban and rural infrastructure development projects across the state’s three senatorial districts as concrete evidence of fulfilling his campaign promises.
”The nickname ‘Okpe’s Baby’ given to me by Edo citizens shows that the people are seeing and feeling the impact of what we are doing,” Okpebholo said. He urged his appointees to maintain momentum, deepen community engagements, and keep public welfare at the center of governance as preparations begin for upcoming political cycles.
