The leadership of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a stern advisory to auxiliary political organizations and volunteer networks backing its platform, cautioning them against encroaching upon core administrative duties reserved exclusively for official party structures.
Speaking to correspondents at the national headquarters in Abuja, the party’s National Chairman, Senator Moses Cleopas, underlined that while grassroots volunteer teams remain vital for voter mobilization and boosting electoral prospects, blurring the lines between structural leadership and independent campaigns could spark internal friction as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
The national leadership acknowledged the heavy lifting done by grassroots groups, noting that an official Directorate of Mobilization—operating under the Office of the National Organising Secretary—has been properly put in place to register, harmonize, and partner with all auxiliary units nationwide.
However, the party reiterated that these movements must strictly operate within their defined spheres without taking over institutional decision-making or executive responsibilities.
Political analysts observe that as political momentum builds up nationwide, streamlining the relationship between formal party organs and independent campaign networks remains vital to maintaining internal harmony and a unified electoral strategy.
