National leader of Kwankwasiyya movement and vice-presidential candidate on Nigeria Democratic Congress, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso has reasserted that a binding, written agreement exists between himself and Peter Obi to ensure a single four-year presidential tenure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Speaking live on Channels Television’s Politics Today, on Thursday night, Kwankwaso addressed public questioning regarding the stability and trust behind their joint presidential ticket.
When asked directly whether he believes Obi will abide by power-sharing terms and allow the presidency to shift back to the North after four years, Kwankwaso maintained absolute confidence in his political ally.
”I personally believe him. Based on what I know about him, I don’t think he will change his mind when the time comes,” Kwankwaso said during the interview. “We are all gentlemen, and we have accepted to put it on paper.”
The former Kano State governor disclosed that the arrangement is sealed with documentation both at the party level and as a personal agreement executed between both leaders.
Kwankwaso emphasized that the single-term structure was key to reaching a consensus on the joint ticket, balancing regional power considerations as opposition forces consolidate for the 2027 race.
