ABUJA — The Just Friends Club of Nigeria (JFCN) has invited major political parties, including the All Progressives Congress (APC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), and National Democratic Congress (NDC), to a public debate on ensuring credible elections ahead of the 2027 general polls.
In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Ngozi John-Uyah, the club disclosed that it has formally asked the leadership of the respective political parties to nominate representatives for a panel discussion.
The debate forms a core part of the club’s 8th Annual Public Lecture, scheduled for Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at the Bolingo Hotel in Abuja, themed “From Concern to Action: Making Our Votes Count in the 2027 General Elections”.
Speaking on the initiative, JFCN President Chief Amaechi C. Aloke emphasized that the 2027 general elections present a vital opportunity for Nigerians to shape the country’s future through informed political choices.
”Elections should be about more than winning power,” Aloke stated. “Nigerians must examine the records, programmes, and promises of those seeking office. We invited the major political parties because fairness and accountability are essential to strengthening our democracy.”
The lecture will feature prominent governance and human rights advocates, including Clement Nwankwo, Executive Director of the Policy and Legal Advocacy Centre (PLAC), as keynote speaker, alongside panelists such as Rev. Fr. George Ehusani, Prof. Chidi Odinkalu, Dr. Sam Amadi, and former Chief of Army Staff Lt.-Gen. Abdulrahman Dambazau (retd.).
