The “Battle of Britain” has taken a wildly unexpected political turn after Tyson Fury revealed plans to invite US President Donald Trump to lead his ring walk for the December 11 blockbuster against Anthony Joshua.
The bitter British heavyweights are set to collide at the 80,000-capacity Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales. Fury is eager to have Trump headline his official procession into the stadium.
The two figures previously crossed paths at the UFC Freedom 250 event at the White House. At that meeting, the self-styled “Gypsy King” famously donned a cap reading “Donald Trump for Prime Minister” after Trump helped resolve the boxer’s long-standing United States travel ban.
While Fury noted he would extend the invitation to his “old buddy,” he acknowledged it is likely unfeasible given Trump’s presidential duties.
