Vice President Kashim Shettima has launched a scathing political attack on former Anambra State Governor and opposition leader Peter Obi, branding him as the “master of bogus statistics and incoherent economic prescriptions”.
Speaking on Wednesday during the official inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council at the State House Banquet Hall in Abuja, Vice President Shettima dismissed claims and economic models frequently cited by the opposition.
Addressing party stalwarts, Shettima argued that a complex nation of over 200 million people cannot be managed through imported comparison models or unverified statistical figures.
“Then comes my very good friend, Mr. Peter Obi, the master of bogus statistics and incoherent economic prescriptions who seems convinced that his size 36 shirt for Bangladesh will somehow fit Nigeria’s size 52,” Shettima said. “Governance is an act that demands mastery of context, whether social, economic, or political. A country of over 200 million people cannot be governed through borrowed statistics and economic prescriptions detached from its peculiarities.”
The Vice President also dismissed claims regarding the outcome of the 2023 presidential election as a “delusion of grandeur,” maintaining that the ruling party remains focused on addressing the nation’s core structural challenges ahead of the 2027 general elections.
