Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has officially unveiled the list of endorsed candidates for the 2027 general elections under the banner of the “Rainbow Coalition” in Rivers State. The political alliance comprises 34 candidates from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and 15 candidates from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The announcement was made during a gathering at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium in Port Harcourt, where Wike outlined the coalition’s strategic framework. The alignment brings together political actors across major party divides to form a unified structure aimed at driving grassroots mobilization across the state’s senatorial, federal, and state constituencies ahead of the 2027 polls.
Wike emphasized that the primary objective of the Rainbow Coalition is to consolidate political strength in Rivers State to back President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign. He explained that while the coalition operates across party lines to support the presidential mandate, individual candidate selections across elective positions maintain their respective party platforms.
Speaking on behalf of the endorsed candidates, House of Representatives Minority Leader Kingsley Chinda stated that the coalition’s leadership will prioritize political stability, inclusive governance, and economic growth in the state.
The event marks a major realignment in Rivers State politics as cross-party alliances take center stage ahead of the upcoming electoral cycle.
