INEC Cautions Public Against Fraudulent State Candidate Circulars

The Independent National Electoral Commission has dissociated itself from unverified publications circulating online regarding political contenders for legislative and executive positions across multiple regions.

In a public notice released on Monday, the electoral body described the circulating document—which listed cleared candidates for Zamfara, Gombe, Delta, Plateau, Yobe, and Kano states—as entirely fake and unauthorized.

INEC clarified that it has not released any such special notice or cleared candidates list for the affected states.

The commission warned members of the public against relying on unverified social media announcements designed to mislead voters and create political disaffection.

Reiterating its commitment to transparency and accurate public communication, the electoral umpire urged Nigerians to disregard the viral post and source all election-related updates strictly from its official website, verified social media handles, and official press statements.
