OK Movement Questions NDC Grassroots Readiness Following Campaign Council Exclusion

The Obi-Kwankwaso Movement has challenged the political strategy of the Nigeria Democratic Congress following the release of the party’s National Campaign Council list, asserting that party officials will ultimately depend on the support group’s independent voter network.

In an official statement issued in Abuja on Monday by the Director-General of the movement, John Ughulu, the organization condemned the exclusion of its state, local government, and ward coordinators from the official appointments.

Ughulu argued that effective political engagement relies on sustained organizational work at the polling unit level rather than administrative announcements, maintaining that those appointed without direct local voter connections will inevitably rely on established community machinery.

The dispute follows unresolved disagreements between the political party and the support group regarding the movement’s separate operational setup. Ughulu criticized the timing of the announcement, questioning why the presidential campaign council was being constituted with less than three months remaining before the general elections.

He emphasized that high-profile political appointments, including notable committee members named by the party, cannot substitute for structured voter turnout operations. Reaffirming its commitment to its foundational objectives, the movement stated that its nationwide field organization remains fully intact and operational.
