The Nigerian Government has proposed a harmonized timetable for Nigeria’s 2027 national external examinations, targeting the release of results across four major examination bodies by August 2027.
The strategic initiative, designed under the Nigeria Education Sector Renewal Initiative (NESRI), aims to streamline academic calendars, eliminate timetable clashes, and ensure that eligible candidates transition into tertiary institutions without academic disruptions by September.
The development followed a high-level consultative meeting convened in Abuja by the Minister of State for Education, Prof. Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, featuring executive heads and representatives of major assessment bodies.
Under the proposed 2027 harmonized schedule:JAMB UTME: Proposed to hold from March 15 to March 25, 2027, with UTME results anticipated within the same month.
NECO SSCE: Scheduled to take place early, running from April 1 to May 14, 2027, with results targeted for release in August 2027.

Addressing stakeholders, Prof. Suwaiba Ahmad emphasized that synchronizing the registration periods, examination windows, and result publication timelines is critical to eliminating candidate stress and modernizing Nigeria’s education administrative framework.
The Ministry noted that aligning examination schedules will allow tertiary admission portals to process admissions on schedule, effectively standardizing the national university and polytechnic matriculation calendar.
