WARRI — Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have dismantled a notorious armed robbery and kidnapping syndicate, arresting five suspects in intelligence-led raids across Ughelli North and Ika South Local Government Areas.
The Police Public Relations Officer for the command, SP Bright Edafe, disclosed this in a statement made available to journalists in Warri on Sunday.
According to the PPRO, the first operation was executed on October 16, 2026, when operatives of the Commissioner of Police Special Assignment Team (CP-SAT), acting on credible intelligence regarding criminal activities terrorizing the Ujode Community in Ughelli North LGA, raided the hideout and apprehended one Thankgod Ejakpomewhe, aged 29. A search of the suspect’s premises led to the recovery of one locally made long gun and a live cartridge.
In a related operation, tactical units attached to the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU) raided a suspected criminal hideout in Alisimen Community, Ika South LGA, resulting in the arrest of four additional suspects.
SP Edafe stated that all suspects are currently in police custody undergoing rigorous interrogation, while coordinated manhunts are underway to track down other fleeing members of the syndicate.
The command reaffirmed its resolve to rid the state of violent crimes, urging residents to maintain strong security partnerships by providing timely information to law enforcement agencies.
