AWKA, NIGERIA — Anambra State Governor Chukwuma Soludo has advised the electorate across the South-East region to back President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the upcoming 2027 presidential election, arguing that direct political engagement with the incumbent southern presidency presents the surest strategic pathway toward a future Igbo presidency.
Speaking in Igbo in a video circulating across political channels, Governor Soludo outlined the strategic power rotation dynamics of Nigerian politics. He noted that supporting a fellow southern leader to complete a two-term presidency will establish political goodwill and encourage other geopolitical zones to back an Igbo candidate when power returns to the South after a northern tenure.
Highlighting the importance of political negotiations, the Governor cautioned against voting out of political sentiment, emphasizing that the South-East must align with broader political coalitions to maximize its national influence. He noted that power is negotiated through strategic alliances rather than isolated voting patterns.
Reflecting on the geopolitical realities of national power rotation, Governor Chukwuma Soludo stated:
“You have to engage in discussions. The South-East should support the incumbent southern president, noting that power would shift to the North after Tinubu’s tenure before eventually returning to the South.”
Elaborating on the positioning of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) ahead of the general election, Governor Chukwuma Soludo added:
“As for APGA, we will support the moving train. What am I vying for? I have no intention of seeking a third term.”
