The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s steadfast commitment to empowering indigenous defence manufacturers to significantly boost domestic production of armored vehicles and essential military equipment.
The Army Chief made the declaration during an official working visit to the corporate headquarters and manufacturing complex of the PROFORCE Group located in Ogun State. The high-level assessment tour underscored the military leadership’s strategic focus on integrating local industrial capability into national defense architecture to streamline operational efficiency and guarantee sustainable security.
In an official statement released by the Acting Director of Army Public Relations, Colonel Appolonia Anele, the COAS commended the management and engineering teams at PROFORCE Group for their pioneering innovation and consistent contributions toward expanding Nigeria’s indigenous defence industrial base.
Aligning with national economic policy, Lieutenant General Shaibu stated, “The Nigerian Army, under my leadership, will continue to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s drive for local content development and defence industrialisation.” He emphasized that sustained investment in home-grown capabilities would help reduce dependence on foreign suppliers, strengthen equipment availability, and improve the Army’s response to evolving security threats.
