The Edo State Consumer Protection Committee has urged electricity consumers across the state to report unfair business practices and service infractions by the Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) to ensure swift administrative intervention.
The call follows the establishment and inauguration of the Joint Action Committee on Electricity by the Management Committee of the Edo State Consumer Protection Committee, under the leadership of its Chairman, Iyamu Osaro Culture.
In an official press statement released in Benin City, the committee advised residents facing challenges related to persistent power supply disruptions, arbitrary estimated billing, delayed metering installation, unnotified disconnections, and other alleged service abuses to submit formal complaints for regulatory resolution.
Assuring members of the public of prompt action, the committee reaffirmed its commitment to enforcing structured oversight mechanisms to resolve consumer grievances, hold distribution companies accountable, and safeguard public rights across Edo State’s electricity market.
