Many Feared Dead as Helicopter Crashes in Ondo Swamp

Several people are feared dead following a helicopter crash in Igbokoda, the headquarters of the Ilaje Local Government Area in Ondo State, on Monday morning. The aircraft went down in a swampy area along the community’s creek.

While the total number of passengers on board has not yet been established, source reports indicate that occupants of the ill-fated helicopter died in the incident.Local residents reported hearing a loud noise in the area at the time of the crash.

However, the terrain prevented community members from reaching the immediate scene, forcing them to observe from a distance until security personnel arrived.Personnel from the Nigeria Police Force and the military were subsequently deployed to the location to conduct search and rescue operations.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer for the state command, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, stated that an investigation into the crash has formally commenced.
