Former Governor of Rivers State and Vice Presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rotimi Amaechi, has challenged President Bola Tinubu to bring down the pump price of premium motor spirit (petrol) to ₦600 per litre.
Amaechi vowed that he would instantly withdraw from the ADC ticket and aggressively campaign for the President in the upcoming 2027 general elections if that price drop happens.
The opposition stalwart threw down the gauntlet while reacting sharply to President Tinubu’s Independence Day address. He openly disputed the President’s declaration that Nigeria has successfully entered an “age of prosperity,” speaking during a live interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today with Seun Okinbaloye.
Questioning the presidency’s economic milestones, Amaechi urged Nigerians to critically assess whether the highly publicized economic reforms have actually translated into lower market prices, cheaper energy costs, or improved living conditions for the ordinary citizen.
