The Nigeria Police Force has granted administrative bail to former Governor of Imo State, Senator Rochas Okorocha, following his interrogation at the Force Headquarters over allegations involving document forgery.Police sources confirmed on Wednesday that the former lawmaker was released late Tuesday evening after providing required sureties and agreeing to report back for further questioning as investigations proceed.
South South Echoes earlier reported that, Okorocha’s temporary detention was prompted by a formal petition submitted to law enforcement agencies, alleging irregularities and falsification of official documents linked to property acquisitions and administrative transactions during his tenure as governor.
Detectives attached to the specialized investigative unit questioned the former governor for several hours before establishing terms for his conditional release while investigators verify documents and financial records related to the claims.
Speaking through his legal team, Okorocha denied any wrongdoing, describing the allegations as politically motivated and expressing confidence that the police investigation will completely exonerate him.
