Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has launched a scathing critique against Nigerian political leaders, particularly state governors, over the persistent mismanagement of public funds and the lack of future developmental plans for their respective states.
Taking to his social media page on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) winner expressed deep frustration over the political leadership, describing the nation as an “embezzlement ground”.”
He says “the arrogance and confidence in some of these governors make me sick, and a lot of them don’t have good plans for the future of their state—zero plans; e.g., just embezzle money, and una police and army go still follow them with empty stomachs, jokers,” Emenike wrote. ”Nigeria is finished and gone. We thought it was a country when we played, not knowing that it is an embezzlement ground.
Embezzlement group of companies,” he added. Emenike also targeted security personnel for continuing to shield and escort political figures despite suffering similar economic hardships.
