Police Arrest Six Suspected Armed Robbers In Osun Operations

OSOGBO, NIGERIA — Officers of the Osun State Police Command have arrested six suspected armed robbers accused of terrorizing residents across Osun and Oyo states.

The arrests were announced on Monday, October 19, 2026, by the Osun State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Umar Zungura, during a press briefing at the command headquarters in Osogbo. The suspects were identified as Olaiya Sunday (27), Akintunde Mariam (28), Agoro Kudus (27), Timileyin Idowu (23), Adekunle Ibrahim (30), and Temitope Opeyemi (29).

Police investigations revealed that the gang specialized in dispossessing unsuspecting citizens of motorcycles and mobile phones using fake firearms before selling the stolen items to receivers in Ibadan and Lagos.

CP Zungura detailed the operations that led to the neutralization of the syndicate and the recovery of stolen goods.

“Our men successfully tracked down and arrested these six individuals who have been terrorizing residents of Osun and Oyo states,” CP Zungura stated. “Exhibits recovered from the group include several high-end smartphones, including iPhone 13 and iPhone 11 models, which have been linked to reported robbery incidents.”

The police command confirmed that all six suspects remain in custody and will be arraigned in court as soon as investigations are concluded.
