President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced that he will not attend every campaign rally organized by the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 general elections, emphasizing the urgent need to prioritize national economic recovery and administrative governance over electioneering.
Speaking on Wednesday in Abuja during the official inauguration of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, the President explained that while political campaigns are vital, his primary duty remains delivering on governance and meeting critical economic commitments.
President Tinubu revealed that he agreed with party leaders and stakeholders who advised him against allowing election campaigns to distract his administration from executing critical federal policies and attracting foreign investments.
”I hear you. The job must go on. Nigeria’s pressing needs require sustained attention, and governance must continue alongside electioneering,” President Tinubu declared. “We have financial obligations to meet and must continue attracting investors to secure our country’s future.”
The President urged members of the newly inaugurated campaign council to take the APC’s scorecard, economic vision, and reform agenda directly to grassroots voters across all wards and local communities while he focuses on state affairs.
