BENIN CITY — The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has successfully distributed 10,665 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) across 192 registration wards in Edo State within the first week of its ward-level collection exercise.
The commission disclosed the figures in an official progress statement released in Benin City by the INEC Public Affairs Officer in Edo State,Toyon Buoro
Toyon confirmed that public participation was strong across all 18 Local Government Areas, explaining that the issued cards include both newly registered voters from recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercises and voters who previously requested card transfers or replacements.
With the initial ward-level phase officially concluding, Toyin announced that PVC collection has now transitioned directly to INEC local government area offices across the state to allow remaining registrants to retrieve their cards.
“Collection of PVCs is moving directly from the wards to our commission’s Local Government Area offices across Edo State. More PVCs are expected for applicants who registered recently, and the commission will formally announce when those additional batches are ready for pick-up,” Toyin stated.
The commission urged eligible voters who have not yet picked up their cards to visit their respective local government headquarters, reminding citizens that a valid physical PVC remains an indispensable constitutional requirement for voter accreditation through the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
