The All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council has vehemently dismissed allegations of a sinister plot to eliminate former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, characterizing the claims as cheap opposition propaganda designed to heighten political tension ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In an official statement released in Abuja by the spokesperson of the APC campaign council, Dele Alake, the ruling party strongly rejected assertions made by political activist Timi Frank and backed by international lobbying movements.
Frank had earlier penned an open letter appealing to United States President Donald Trump and international bodies over alleged threats to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate’s life and political freedom.
Rebutting the allegations, the ruling party called on Nigeria’s security agencies to immediately invite Timi Frank to substantiate his grave claims with verifiable evidence.
The council stressed that while any genuine threat to human life must be treated with utmost seriousness regardless of party lines, weaponizing baseless security scares only cheapens national discourse and misleads the electorate.
The campaign council also refuted claims regarding the withdrawal of security personnel attached to the former vice president, reiterating that the federal administration under President Bola Tinubu remains firmly committed to constitutional order and democratic principles.
According to the APC, President Tinubu recently directed intelligence and security agencies across the federation to reinforce protection details for all presidential, vice-presidential, governorship, and deputy governorship candidates nationwide.
Urging political figures to show restraint, the ruling party warned against desperate maneuvers to drag foreign governments into domestic political affairs through alarmist open letters.
The statement maintained that the 2027 electoral contest should be anchored on developmental issues and track records rather than character assassination and unfounded panic-mongering.
