YENAGOA, NIGERIA — Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has formally presented a proposed budget of ₦1.24 trillion for the 2027 fiscal year to the state House of Assembly in Yenagoa.
The presentation, delivered on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, was conducted in compliance with Section 121 of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended) and other applicable state financial laws.
Governor Diri submitted the estimates to the lawmakers, urging the legislature to give the proposal swift scrutiny to enable the Appropriation Law to take effect by January 2027.
Describing the cordial relationship between the executive and legislative arms of government as one of the greatest strengths of his administration, Diri commended the assembly for its sustained cooperation.
The presentation follows months of citizen-engagement sessions and public consultations held across the state to capture local priorities, infrastructure needs, and inputs from youth, women groups, and traditional institutions into the fiscal framework.
During his address, the governor also appealed to political actors across all parties to maintain decorum and guard against actions that could threaten the peace and political stability of the state.
