The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State has disclosed that 116,745 Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) belonging to newly registered voters remain uncollected.
Mrs. Adenike Tadese, the INEC Administrative Secretary in Lagos, made this known during an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria on Friday. According to Tadese, the commission received 177,295 PVCs for residents who registered during Phase One of the Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise in 2025.
While weekly updates as of Monday show that 60,550 cards have been successfully claimed, 116,745 cards are still awaiting their owners. Tadese emphasized that these uncollected cards represent a crucial segment of voters needed for the upcoming 2027 general elections.
The PVCs are available for collection at the various local government offices of the commission across Lagos State. Tadese stressed a strict policy that cards must be collected in person by their rightful owners and not by proxy. Additionally, INEC announced that PVCs for residents who registered during the 2026 CVR exercise prior to its closure will soon be ready for collection.
Tadese urged stakeholders and community leaders to mobilize both old registrants and 2025 CVR participants to pick up their cards before the collection window closes. She further called on voters to maintain orderliness during collection, while appealing to political actors to adhere strictly to electoral guidelines and ensure a peaceful environment for the 2027 polls.
