ABUJA — The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disclosed an internal revenue generation of ₦8.529 billion within seven months, derived primarily from nomination form sales, statutory membership dues, levies, and voluntary donations from supporters.
The announcement was made by the party’s National Treasurer, Peter Onigah, during the NDC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting held on Monday in Abuja.
Presenting the financial audit, Onigah revealed that out of the total ₦8,529,632,438.77 raised during the reporting period, the political organization expended ₦2,402,461,479.77 on administrative, operational, and organizational activities.
The party leadership attributed the financial outcome to strict fiscal discipline and transparent record-keeping managed by a team of experienced technocrats within the national executive. Party officials emphasized that operating without access to state resources or government funding necessitated a reliance on internal fundraising mechanisms and contributions from general members.
Speaking at the gathering, party stalwarts reiterated their commitment to maintaining financial accountability while solidifying campaign structures nationwide. Key leaders in attendance urged party members across all chapters to resolve internal disagreements and unify behind the party’s candidates ahead of upcoming national elections.
The NEC session was attended by top party figures, including presidential flagbearer Peter Obi, running mate Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, national leader Seriake Dickson, alongside members of the National Working Committee (NWC) and state delegations.
