Governor Fubara Directs Supporters To Acknowledge Wike As Political Leader

Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has cautioned his political supporters and media aides against addressing him as the leader of the political family in the state, clarifying that Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, remains the undisputed political leader. The governor issued the warning during a stakeholders’ meeting at the Government House in Port Harcourt, addressing growing political friction and public adulation from various interest groups.

Expressing concern over unauthorized pronouncements and titles assigned to him by enthusiastic followers, Governor Fubara instructed his supporters to cease referring to him as “my leader” in political gatherings or public publications. He emphasized that political hierarchy must be respected, reiterating that his leadership position is executive and governance-focused rather than political faction command.

”Stop calling me ‘my leader.’ Wike is our leader,” Governor Fubara stated while addressing the assembled stakeholders. “We have only one leader in Rivers State political family, and that is the Honourable Minister of the FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike. Respect the structure and do not create unnecessary divisions.”

The governor cautioned that unguided political declarations and attempts to pit him against the FCT Minister only serve to fuel unwarranted crisis across the state. He urged all party loyalists, appointees, and political associates to direct their energy toward supporting the administration’s development goals while maintaining total deference to Wike’s established political leadership.

Reaffirming his commitment to peace and stability in Rivers State, Governor Fubara assured citizens that his administration remains focused on delivering infrastructure and economic growth while sustaining harmony within the ruling political structure.
